Fashion Show. Edible bags.

Rules and Regulations.

1. All levels are eligible to register for this category. Open to all adults 18 years or older

2. All bags/purses must be made of edible materials (cake, chocolate, Rice cereal)

3. Edible bags/purses can have a non-edible bottom as a supportive part and one non-edible handle. If your bag has a second handle, it must be made of edible materials. More points will be awarded for a higher percentage of edible materials.

4. Other parts (decoration, pockets, etc.) must be made of edible materials.

5. Size Limitations

      Handbag – must fit in a 14-inch square and the height is limited to 24 inches.

      Purse – must fit in a 12-inch square and the height is limited to 12 inches.

      Clutch – must fit in an 8-inch square and the height is limited to 8 inches.

6. At least three (3) in-progress, step-by-step photos showing the actual carving of the    cake must accompany the entry.

7. Competitors must provide an appropriate stand to showcase their entry while on display.

8. The registration fee is $30.

9. All registrations must be received online no later than 2:00 PM (EST) on March 9, 2024. 

10. The Fashion Show starts at 5PM on March 9, 2024. 

11. Handbags/Purses/Clutches must be worn/modeled/carried during the Competition/Fashion Show, Saturday, March 9th at 5:00 PM. 

12. All entries must be the sole work of the competitor.

13. All entries must be original work for this show.  For the purposes of this show, the original means the entry may not have been entered in any other contest or competition, including online; and photos of the entry may not have been previously posted online, including social media sites.  Additionally, no personal or business identifying marks, advertisements, will be allowed to be displayed along with or on the entry, or in the entry description.

14. All entries must be pre-registered for the event.

15. Judging will take place during the preliminary viewing and during the Fashion Show. 

16. Mayen Orido`s online students can register their bags made during their online classes for this Competition/Challenge, and they will participate with the bags in the Fashion Show.

17. The Challenge includes not only making the bag/purse and displaying it but also making a runway with the bag. So, you will be a cake decorator and supermodel at the same time.

18. Each competitor must purchase one entry ticket (one day ticket/pass or weekend ticket/pass). One ticket for one competitor, it doesn't matter how many bags are you planning to bring.

19. The winners will be announced on Saturday after the Fashion show and be mentioned at the Awards ceremony on Sunday.

20. The decision of the judges is final.

 

Judging Criteria

1. Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

-Originality

-Difficulty

- Interpretation of theme

- Quality and workmanship

- Overall Appearance

- Wear ability/Sturdiness

2. A total of 10 points for each criterion may be earned for a total of 60 points from the judging panel.

3. Judges will have a preliminary look at the entries in the preshow hold area to ensure they view the entry from all sides before it is modeled.  Judging will also take place during the Fashion Show to determine the wear ability/sturdiness of the entry.
